MNRE Draft Scheme for Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects
Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) on 08th September has notified a draft scheme for the development of Solar Parks and Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects, and has invited comments and suggestions as soon as possible however no dates has been mentioned.
Earlier in the Union Budget, the government announced that, it will set up Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects. The draft notified by MNRE can be seen as implementation of the govt. plans.

The Scheme is a very good initiative to encourage the Solar power developers to setup solar plants in the country, as will help in adding the Solar Power in capacity in the country. The draft scheme also proposes that there will no wheeling charges, or it will be very low.
The scheme will enable large investments in the RE generation, and help states to meet their RPO mandate. It will also create employment opportunities.
